Grayson Legends 7U beats Catlettsburg

Coy Thomas and Sawyer Shearer each drove in three runs on three hits to lead Grayson Legends 7U past Catlettsburg 13-8 in the championship of the Grayson Legends 7U tournament in what is believed to be the first-ever 7U USSSA travel tournament in the area.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as the Grayson Legends collected 21 hits, while Catlettsburg scattered 17 of their own. Grayson Legends opened up an early lead in the first inning with Coy Thomas, Cruz Berry, and Tucker Thomas tallying RBI singles.

Grayson Legends 7U took the lead for good with five runs in the third. In the inning, Shearer singled home Izak Kitchen, then Coy Thomas doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, Colin Bradford singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Roman Jordan singled up the middle of the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Grayson Legends also put up five runs in the fourth inning. The rally was led by singles by Jace Holbrook, I Kitchen, and Tucker T and doubles by Shepherd Boggs and Shearer. Catlettsburg scored three runs in the fourth inning.

Catlettsburg big bats were led by Colt, Aiden, and Carter, all driving in runs in the frame.

Grayson Legends tallied 21 hits in the game. Izak Kitchen, Shepherd Boggs, Cruz Berry, Tucker Thomas, and Roman Jordan all had two hits for Grayson Legends 7U. While Shearer and Coy Thomas each had three hits to lead the charge.

In the tourney, Legends 7U beat Lawrence Co. 17-7, Catlettsburg 12-7 then 13-8 again in the championship.
