The Grayson Gallery and Arts will host its “Second Saturday Shindig” on Saturday, July 13, starting at 6 p.m. The evening will feature “Holler Down the Holler” poetry slam, live music by “Margins to Mountains” and other drop-in musicians.
While admission is free, a $5 donation will be appreciated. Light refreshments and cold drinks will be available. Gallery coordinator Dan Click suggests dressing for hot weather.
In other business, the gallery is seeking volunteers to keep the building open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“In order to grow the gallery and keep it sustainable for the future, this and a new plan to increase membership and arts opportunities, are underway,” Click said in a Facebook post. “We feel that not only could we provide the exciting presence of “working artists” (including musicians and performers as well as visual artists) to our patrons and visitors but we will increase art sales and other support as well!”
The gallery’s board of directors is currently forming a list of persons who would be interested in volunteering their time. Click said volunteers would work varying times and dates, depending on the personal needs of a volunteer and needs of the gallery.
Volunteers would be able to bring their own supplies and use the gallery as their own studio during the hours when they staff the facility.
For more information, or to volunteer, contact Dan Click via Facebook. The gallery is located at 301 East Third Street in Grayson.
